The Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, is the city with the longest lockdown. It was closed for 234 days from March 20 to November 11 last year. It was also temporarily blocked for 10 days from May 21 to May 31 this year, and it is 244 days in total.
Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, Australia, has been closed for a total of 245 days as of 8 PM local time on the 3rd, making it the longest city in the world since the outbreak of COVID-19.
Melbourne is expected to significantly surpass the Buenos Aires record, because the Victorian vaccination road map points out, that it will not reach the goal of 70% of the population after two doses until October 26, it means the time expected to relax going out and curfew restrictions.
The number of newly diagnosed people in Victoria on October 4 was 1,377, slightly more than yesterday’s 1,220, but less than the highest number of 1488 on October 2. Today, another 4 people died of the disease.
Officials blamed the current peak of infection in Victoria on the clusters derived from the Australian Football League Finals, which violated the strict lockdown restrictions imposed last weekend.
