Sweden and Denmark announced that young people will suspend vaccination of Modena’s COVID-19 vaccine because they are worried that vaccination of Modena may cause side effects of myocarditis.
The Swedish health department quoted the latest data on Wednesday (6th), that the risk of myocarditis caused by vaccination with Modena is increased, and it has decided to suspend vaccination of Modena for people under 30 years of age (inclusive). Denmark will also stop vaccinating Modena for people under 18 years of age.
Modena stock closed down 8.94% on the 6th, closing at 302.42 US dollars.
Sweden and Denmark propose to replace Modena with the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech. Both vaccines use mRNA technology to trigger the body’s immune response.
The Swedish Public Health Supervisory Agency stated, that a new preliminary analysis in the Nordic region showed that the relationship between vaccination with Modena vaccine and myocarditis was the most obvious, especially after the second dose. The agency also said that the higher risk stage of myocarditis occurs within four weeks after vaccination, usually in the first two weeks.
