To find out people infected with the new COVID-19 virus Omicron as quickly as possible, South Korea has developed a new PCR test reagent, claiming to significantly shorten the detection time from 3 to 5 days to 3 to 4 hours. It is also the world’s first dose to distinguish 5 types of COVID- 19 viral PCR reagents.
According to a press release issued by the Korean Agency for Disease Control, relevant units and private companies have successfully developed PCR reagents that can quickly detect Omicron infection. It is expected to be distributed to local governments before the 29th and introduced for use on the 30th.
The Department of Disease Management stated that this Omicron reagent, which stands out from the reagents developed by 5 pharmaceutical companies, has excellent performance, achieving 100% accuracy in both negative and positive test results, and can identify Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Omicron, etc., the five largest strain of the virus. It is no longer necessary to spend 3 to 5 days analyzing the gene sequence. As long as 3 to 4 hours, it is expected that the spread of the virus will be more effectively prevented.
Currently, most people usually get results the next day, but it may take up to three days.
During very busy periods or wave peaks, the results may take longer. If you do not get the results on the sixth day, you need to call for inquiry.
