Elon Musk announced a rebrand of Twitter, the popular global social platform. He plans to replace the familiar bird logo. It will occur today, with a blowtorch removing the logo from the headquarters building in San Francisco. Musk revealed the decision to transform the logo in a recent post. He added, “Sorry it took so long.”
In his view, the change reflects our embraced imperfections that make us unique. Musk introduced the idea of a new ‘X’ logo. If a satisfactory design emerges tonight, he confirms it will roll out tomorrow. This move signals the gradual phasing out of the Twitter brand and its associated bird symbology.
Musk is not wary of negative feedback. The entrepreneur prefers this to censorship. And so, Twitter’s new identity is imminent: ‘X.’ The platform will adopt the domain http://x.com following the rebrand.
Interestingly, Musk initially registered this domain in 1999. Years later, Paypal returned the website’s ownership to him. Now, he is using it, marking a significant shift in Twitter’s brand journey.
