A Florida family had a surprise visitor recently. A three-legged bear named Tripod wandered onto their property. But he didn’t stop at a simple stroll.
With surprising audacity, Tripod peered into their fridge. According to WESH 2, an NBC affiliate, he is a known figure in the Lake Mary community. So, it wasn’t completely out of the blue when he turned up at the Diglio’s home on August 3.
“We’ve never been this close to a bear,” exclaimed 13-year-old Joseph Diglio. He captured the raid on video, showing Tripod moving around their enclosed patio. The bear did cause some damage, tearing a hole in the porch screen.
But Tripod wasn’t done. After chewing the fish food the family left outside, he made a beeline for the bar. He nabbed three cans of White Claw, an alcoholic seltzer water, before happily leaving.
His mother, Josaury Faneite-Diglio, reported the bear’s favorite flavors were mango and strawberry. And while this aspect of the event was amusing, Joseph felt a twinge of fear. He recognized that if Tripod could open a fridge, he might be able to open house doors. Up went the locks.
