From July 1, the Japanese government will require members of the Olympic delegations from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Maldives to conduct nucleic acid tests every day within 7 days before leaving the country. The Japanese government previously stipulated that for athletes and coaches who go to Japan to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, two nucleic acid tests should be carried out within 96 hours before leaving the country. After arrival in Japan, nucleic acid tests should be carried out every day in principle.
In addition, the Japanese government also requires Olympic athletes from the six countries mentioned above to prohibit contact with anyone other than the athletes and coaches who go to Japan with their home country within 7 days before leaving the country and within 3 days after arriving in Japan.
The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee said on the 26th that it has ensured enough COVID-19 vaccines for a total of approximately 70,000 volunteers for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, and volunteers who wish to apply for vaccination. The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee stated that vaccination of volunteers is not only related to the health of athletes, but also to the safety of Japanese nationals and Tokyo residents.
As of the 25th, Japan had received 38.59 million doses of vaccine. Since mid-to-early June, the number of single-day vaccination doses in Japan has reached 1 million, and the vaccination rate has accelerated. However, many experts pointed out that even if this rate of inoculation is maintained, the delta variant may still worsen the Japanese epidemic in the summer.
