The COVID-19 epidemic in Thailand is slowing down. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over a meeting of the Epidemic Command Center today. During the meeting, passengers who are expected to be fully vaccinated from November 1 will be exempted quarantine from entering Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Hua Hin.
Taweesin Visanuyothin, a spokesperson for the Epidemic Command Center, announced after the meeting that Thailand will open in 4 phases to allow fully vaccinated passengers to enter the country without quarantine. The first stage starts from October 1, including Phuket and Samui, which have been opened in July and August, adding the islands and beach tourist areas of Krabi and Phang Ng.
In the second stage, starting from November 1, the open areas include Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Cha-am, Koh Phayam, parts of Chiangmai, Chiang Khan in Loei, and downtown Buriram.
The third stage will be opened from December 1st, including 20 provinces in Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Nong Khai, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, and Rayong.
In the fourth stage, from January 1, 2022, 13 prefectures including Surin, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and Kanchanaburi will be opened.
The relevant plan will be passed by the cabinet meeting tomorrow, and the implementation details will be announced separately.
