In Japan, due to the prevalence of mutant virus strains in January this year, foreigners are prohibited from entering the country in principle; Japanese media reported that the Japanese government intends to open the entry of short-term business travelers, foreign students, and technical intern trainees, and conditionally shorten the isolation period for business travelers to 3 days. Start soon on the 8th of this month.
In response to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Japanese government implemented border controls. Originally, people entering Japan from foreign countries must be quarantined at their homes for 14 days; this control has been relaxed since October, people who have been vaccinated with Pfizer, Moderna of United States or AstraZeneca of United Kingdom that approved by Japan, will have the quarantine period shortened to 10 days
Under this situation, the Japanese government, in view of the recent cooling of the epidemic situation and the desire of the economic community to further relax border controls, regarding the current control measures that prohibit the entry of foreigners in principle, it is proposed to open entry for short-term business travelers and international students, but the condition is that the responsible companies and universities must conduct action management on the entrants.
In addition, business travelers will also be able to shorten the entry quarantine period to 3 days. If the test is negative from the fourth day, the company will be responsible for action management. Business travelers can be allowed to take public transportation and go out for dinner.
The above measures will be put on the road as soon as possible from the 8th of this month.
