The South Korean government announced on May 26th that it will no longer require people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to wear masks outdoors since July. This decision aims to encourage more people to get COVID-19 vaccine.
According to reports, people who have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can not only wear masks outdoors, but also have no restrictions on the number of people in religious places.
South Korea’s metropolitan area currently requires that the number of people in religious venues does not exceed 20% of the maximum capacity, and religious venues in other regions do not exceed 30% of the maximum capacity. South Korea’s metropolitan area includes the capital Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province.
People who have been vaccinated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine since June are no longer limited to less than 8 people at home gatherings.
South Korean Prime Minister Kim Fuqian said at an epidemic response meeting on the 26th that at the end of September, more than 70% of the people are expected to receive the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and the health department will comprehensively adjust the epidemic prevention and control measures by then. “When herd immunity is reached, we will also review the relaxation of the indoor mask order.”
