The Singapore Ministry of Health issued a press release late on the 10th, stating that 3 more cases of Omicron infection were initially detected, including 1 local case and 2 cases of overseas immigration. All 3 people have been fully vaccinated and are asymptomatic, are currently recovering in isolation at the National Center for Infectious Diseases. The authorities are conducting contact tracing to prevent the epidemic.
The Ministry of Health stated that the National Public Health Laboratory is currently conducting full genetic sequencing of these three cases to confirm whether they are infected with Omicron.
Singapore has so far found 8 cases of Omicron infection initially detected, 2 of which are local, and the rest are imported from abroad. There are currently 2 confirmed cases of Omicron infection.
In addition, Singapore will also expand its plans for COVID-19 vaccination and additional doses. The Ministry of Health stated that the inter-departmental anti-epidemic working group accepts expert advice and will begin to vaccinate children between 5 and 11 years old with Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine before the end of the year.
The Ministry of Health pointed out that the dose for children aged 5 to 11 is only 1/3 of adults, which is 10 micrograms per dose, with an interval of 21 days between the two doses.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, 87% of the population in Singapore has been fully vaccinated, and 30% have been vaccinated with supplemental doses.
