Shatner’s television roles
William Shatner’s T.V. career began in 1982 when he appeared in T.J. Hooker, a police drama. He also starred in the crime drama Rescue 911, for which he received the People’s Choice Award. Shatner has also been a director and actor as well as a musician and celebrity pitchman. In 2003, he was back on television as Denny Crane in The Practice’s legal procedural series. After just two seasons, the series was canceled due to high demand. The character was adaptable into the hit Boston Legal as well as the spin-off The Practice. Shatner won another Emmy Award in the best supporting actor category.
Shatner was Stan Fields’s character in Miss Congeniality in 2007. He also hosted the 50th Annual Miss USA Pageant in the same year. He was Osmosis Jones’ voice actor for Mayor Phlemming in 2002. Shatner also stars in Testimony of Two Men, a Western comedy-drama. After just one season, the miniseries were canceled. Shatner also starred in two other T.V. miniseries, How the West Was Won and How the West Was Won.
Shatner had previously appeared in two smaller T.V. shows, including the 1965 crime drama For the People. However, this didn’t get enough attention to warrant a full-blown series. Shatner was also featured in the pilot Alexander the Great, which co-starred Robert Fortier and featured Leonard Rosenman’s music. It was not a full-length series, but it was aired in 1968.
